Timetastic is a genuinely good staff leave planner. Team Today is the alternative to consider when leave is one piece of a bigger question: coordinating a hybrid team. It combines leave management with team whereabouts, desk, meeting room and parking booking, natively inside Microsoft Teams, at a similar per-user price, free for teams of up to 10.
Honest comparison · competitor facts checked August 2026Credit where due: Timetastic is a well-loved, super-simple staff leave planner with a strong UK following. It has transparent per-user pricing across three tiers, a 30-day free trial with no credit card, mobile apps, Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations, and, on its top tier, rota building and time-clock features (as of August 2026). If your only problem is the leave spreadsheet, Timetastic solves it, and solves it nicely.
For hybrid teams, leave is usually one slice of a bigger coordination problem: who’s in the office today, which day does the team overlap, is there a desk (and a parking space) for everyone, and is the meeting room actually free? Solve those with separate tools and you end up with two or three subscriptions and logins. Team Today’s premise is one tool for all of it (leave plus whereabouts, desks, rooms, parking and visitors) inside the Microsoft Teams window your team already has open. You can’t know who’s in without knowing who’s off, so leave and whereabouts belong together.

Genuinely: teams whose only need is leave and absence tracking, teams that aren’t Microsoft 365 shops, and shift-based businesses that want the rota and time-clock features on its top tier. If none of the whereabouts-and-booking problem applies to you, a dedicated leave tool is a perfectly sensible choice.
Hybrid teams on Microsoft 365 who want the leave spreadsheet gone and an answer to “who’s in today?” in the same tool. One reviewer’s words, not ours:
“Outside of using Team Today to track people's whereabouts it's a fantastic tool for managing annual leave. I transitioned our company to this (from the dreaded Excel sheets) and it's far simpler to manage; there are reports available, it's easy to change people's yearly allowances, add company/bank holidays etc.”
Steven Searle, Mustard Research · Microsoft AppSource review, October 2024
The receipts: 342,000 days of leave have been requested through Team Today, and 26,000 of its 32,000 users set their whereabouts on an average day: voluntary usage, because seeing colleagues’ plans helps people plan their own week.
